Obliti Devoravit - Three Promises (download)

$2.99

In what has been the most productive time for normally quiet, elusive Obliti Devoravit, we are gifted a second release in this calendar year.  A rarity that should be celebrated as OD remains perhaps the most focused, distinct and sacred voice in the one hundred-plus releases of CSR.  Following the feral Chains & Blood, THREE PROMISES begins in medias res.  There is no bracing for the blow. “Waving Wings” drops us in the middle of the action, leaving us to wonder… did we miss something?  The answer is in the music itself.  Already in a full sweat, with the swinging tempo and hanging chords, we have no choice - Like a boat in rough seas,  trying to adjust to something we can’t control before it overtakes us.  OD describes this release as an ode to old and cold.  Three promises to stay forever true.  The songs were created quickly in a burst of creative fit.  In ribbons of hum and static we find the beast of OD at our backs before we even knew we were in danger.  As “Broken Blood” stands atop our crumbling spirit to devour us whole, the listener is left with little recourse.  This is music from the belly of wolf.  “Outro (Saddest Shade)” feels as if we are being reduced to paste in a slurry of digestive juices.  There was never any escape, as we fade into nothingness, surrounded by hiss, buzz, swirling synths and guitar noise, all we can wonder is:  what does this animal have in store for us next?
