________

A legendary (to me, and soon to you), Grand Rapids based thrashcore band that existed in a brief, but brilliant blaze for roughly two years. Don Knotts holds a special place in my heart as the first piece of vinyl I bought when I moved to Michigan. Their 7" was $1.99 at my local record store, Vertigo Music in 2001 (A store that has since employed me for 14+ years). I asked about hardcore/punk bands in the area, was told about Don Knotts. They were sold to me as, "they're dress up like cops at shows and beat the shit out of each other on stage. Oh, and they only play for ten minutes." I had to have it. I eventually saw them at 10 Weston in Grand Rapids with Small Brown Bike and Twelve Hour Turn. They didn't dress up like cops, but they did beat the shit out of my brain for ten minutes. Presented here, in cooperation with Council Records, this is a 2xCS compilation of their entire recorded output. If Don Knotts existed today, they'd be huge. But then again, they were of the moment, and burned out in a damaged mess of screams and broken strings in the way that every good hardcore band should break up. These songs are twenty years old, and deserve to be heard. - Damian Master, USA 2021.
